At the time of writing, these are the most viewed topics US nationwide on the www right now: home business opportunities, vladimir putin,miami heat, nexus two and Arkansaw homophobic verbal slayer “Clint McClance.” What an idiot.
Anderson Cooper spoke on CNN about McClance’s idiotic tone, concerning children who identify with being gay, lesbian or transgendered. Here’s that story.
In putting this story in context as many media are blowing the gay teen suicide issue way out of proportion (as a pet topic of human rights awareness), US statistics show that 1500 teenagers committed suicide in 2002 in the US. More children will be shot to death by gang violence than suicide each year. The issue here is “mean teachers, advocating for the suicide of any kids” vs. sane humane people on school boards. Mr McClance has not yet replied to this broadcast. Sadly, Anderson lost his older brother to suicide in 1988. Any topic that polarizes a nation as McClance’s comment is doing right now in the US – is how stars are made. Cooper is that star right now in the making in U.S cultural life.
