MICHELLE FORBES RESPONDS TO THE EMMYS TRUE BLOOD SNUB
And rightly so, True Blood‘s Michelle Forbes has blasted the Emmy Awards, for snubbing their hit show’s actors who are more popular with the American people and other celebrity peers too, than many of this year’s line up of Emmy Awards nominees.
Quite frankly, the Emmys inability to be relevant and to realize that all television shows, only exist to deliver a rating audience over to advertisers (or they get canned), in their Award nominee choices this year, leaves everyone asking what is wrong with the Primetime Emmys panel this year? They are like the AIG Corporates of Entertainment Award Shows. Their inner circle back scratching is so blatantly obvious to everyone in Hollywood. Major changes need to be made.
True Blood stars an Oscar winning actress whose also a Golden Globe winning actress too in Anna Paquin. To not even nominate Anna for an Emmy award as Sookie Stackhouse, shows how the Emmys need a major shake up to their governance next year. They are so out of touch! Is it even time for a new Television drama award show for prime time, to start up? Seems like it!
Anyway, Michelle Forbes (the Kim Cattrall of True Blood) who plays evil Mayrann Foster, says this:
“Excuse me, but f—k awards! That’s not where the glory is. The glory is in the audience. That’s who we tell the stories for. It’s not for, with all due respect, the critics and not for the awards shows, but for the audience.”
Of her character Maryann, Michelle Forbes says:
“She doesn’t have a duality, she has a quadruple-ality. They came up with this character that is running around in evening dresses and playing in the dirt and she has mad domestic skills and a butler and then there’s dancing and the food. It’s been so much fun.”
On working on set with Anna Paquin and Stephen Moyer:
“It really is a beautiful partnership to witness, and I don’t say that lightly. It’s not often that you meet two people so wholly suited for each other.”
A nice interview from Forbes, She has her priorities right. Audience centered storytelling of the True Blood cast and crew’s united focus, has ensured the show an increasingly loyal and growing following with each new episode of season 2. Their stars are much loved offscreen by the public too.
It always should be about people. Nice. Michelle Forbes shops at our local Gelsens each week in West Hollywood. The check out chicks are her biggest fans!
